G. Philip J. Zies

G. Philip J. Zies is a real estate and land use attorney who specializes in all aspects of real estate transactions, including closings, real estate litigation, land use planning and litigation, intellectual property litigation, contract drafting and review, and business and corporate litigation.  Philip is also a title agent for Fidelity National Title Insurance Company.

Philip graduated from Rollins College in 1990 and from the Stetson University School of Law in 1993.  Philip was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1993, the New York Bar in 1997, and the Federal Middle District of Florida Bar in 1997.

Philip is also a patent holder and enjoys inventing, along with collecting rare books, coins, and vintage video games.  Philip is married to his wife, Lynn, and they have two children and two grandchildren.

Scott D. Widerman

Scott Widerman delivers a full range of litigation in both state and federal courts.  Scott’s area of practice includes corporate litigation, civil litigation, bankruptcy, entertainment, and land use for leading businesses throughout the state of Florida.

Scott graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1995.  Then continued his education at Barry University School of Law, where he graduated in 2002.  That same year, Scott was admitted to practice by the Florida Bar Association and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Scott is known for his ability to research and litigate (and his better than par game on the golf course).  Scott is experienced in handling complex litigation and negotiations, as well as in the areas of land use with recreation districts, homeowners associations, and other deed restricted communities.  Scott is very active within the community, being affiliated with the Florida Bar, Vasser B. Carlton American Inns of Court and Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity, in addition to being a member of the Cocoa Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and the Melbourne-Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce.

Scott’s overall experience and community participation permits him to effectively investigate claims and to provide needed advice to his clients potential exposure and on how best to defend the claims.

Scott enjoys practicing law in the community in which he was raised, but when he ’s not working, he enjoys golf, fishing, boating, and other outdoor activities.

Mark R. Malek

Mark focuses his practice on representing clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and counseling inventors and businesses on various intellectual property strategies.  Mark is a registered patent attorney and admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  Mark also focuses his practice on licensing his client’s intellectual property, and has worked a great deal with international clients.

Mr. Malek received a Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Dayton in 1997, a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Orlando in 1999, and a Juris Doctorate degree from Barry University School of Law in 2002.  Mark is a member of the Florida Bar (2002), and is admitted to practice in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (2000), the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida (2002), the United States Court of Appeals, Federal Circuit (2004) the District of Columbia Bar (2005) and the United States Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit (2005).

Mark currently serves on the executive committee of the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of East Florida and was past chairman of the Board of Directors.  Mark is involved with the Florida Bar Justice Teaching program, and is a parishioner at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.  Mark is married to his wife Aileen and they have two young sons.

Christopher C. Martin

Christopher Martin is an Associate Attorney whose practice focuses primarily on litigation, but also extends to corporate and business law, landlord-tenant disputes, and various land use and real estate issues.

Christopher received a bachelors degree in accounting magna cum laude from Florida Atlantic University before attending the Barry University School of Law, where he graduated in the top 5% of his class.  Christopher was selected for an internship in his second year of law school which ultimately led to his employment with Zies Widerman & Malek.

Christopher is a member of the Florida Bar, the Brevard County Bar, and the Federal Bar for the Middle District of Florida.

Jason A. Fischer

Jason Fischer is an Associate whose practice is focused on intellectual property protection.  With a solid background in computer science, Jason is able to assist clients with understanding the complicated landscape of copyrights, patents, trademarks, and trade secrets, as they relate to software applications, website development, or hardware innovations.  Along with protecting your virtual assets, he can help you explore appropriate licensing strategies to generate profit from them.  Jason is a registered patent attorney and a member of the Florida Bar.

Jason graduated magna cum laude from Barry University School of Law, where he served as business editor for the law review and received awards for attaining the highest grades in his Evidence, Business Organizations, Copyright Law and Trademark Law courses.

Mr. Fischer lives with his wife in Cocoa Beach.

Daniel B. Davidson

Daniel Davidson recently received a Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Central Florida in Legal Studies and is a graduate of Melbourne High School.  He is currently a paralegal with Zies Widerman & Malek in the fields of intellectual property, real estate law and land use law.  In his free time, he enjoys watching sports and performing as lead vocalist for his band, Kip Wilderson.
